About me…
My name is Sherri Kearsley and welcome to my practice! It is my honour to offer my extensive experience in nursing, psychotherapy, and holistic wellness to support your journey towards healing and self-discovery.
My Professional Journey
I have been a registered nurse since 1997, with a specialized focus on people living with the chronic diseases of diabetes and obesity. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in both the public and private sectors, gaining a diverse range of experience and insights. As a nurse educator I found using CBT, ACT and MI techniques with the patient as a partner in their journey resulted in the best outcomes and success in medical managament.
As a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, I bring a unique perspective that integrates medicine and psychotherapy. I help clients address issues related to: the mind—thoughts, beliefs, and values—emotions, understanding, befriending, and regulating them, and the body, health conditions, stored trauma, and healthy movement.
My goal is to create a safe environment where you can explore your life experiences, supported by psychoeducation and personalized practices. Together, we will explore your current beliefs and values through nonjudgmental curiosity and consider new perspectives for growth.
A Lifelong Meditator
My journey into meditation began at the tender age of five with Transcendental Meditation (TM). Meditation has been a cornerstone of my life, providing me with clarity, peace, and a profound connection to my inner self. It remains a key ingredient in my journey back to my authentic SELF.
The Yoga Connection
Fifteen years ago, I discovered yoga, which quickly became a passion of mine. To deepen my practice, I became a certified yoga teacher, and my learning continues to this day. I am particularly interested in the healing states offered by yin and restorative yoga, which I incorporate into my therapeutic approach.
On the personal side
I am a mother of four amazing adults who are a constant source of inspiration and joy!! I spend much of my free time with my loving and supportive partner skiing, playing golf and traveling…I love love love to travel, explore and have a never-ending drive toward learning, growth and healing.
I believe that psychotherapy, meditation, and yoga provide unique opportunities to become still, explore the self from a nonjudgmental perspective, and connect with our inner being. Through these practices, we can better understand our nervous systems, achieve a sense of safety, and begin to take conscious control over our lives. My goal is to help you understand how and why you are where you are today, explore your beliefs and values, and make adjustments to create a different experience in the future.
